Staff Training and Christmas Break

A week ago we finished up our staff training with Neal Gooch. Neal is the Director of CO Johannesburg in South Africa. He is also going to be one of our key speakers at our Milwaukee New Years Conference this year. For our staff training, he spoke to us about “The gospel for me, the gospel for us, and the gospel for them.” He also shared his method of evaluating his life, family and ministry on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. He concluded our time by teaching us that God’s plan is that God’s people would be accomplishing God’s purposes. However, this does not always happen as smoothly as we would like. It was a helpful reminder that our life will sometimes be filled with pain, pressures, problems, etc, but that God is still so committed to us through everything.

Now all of our staff have headed home for the Christmas break to spend time with families. We are getting rested up for our New Years Conference that starts on December 29. We will be posting updates on the conference in early January. Please join us in praying that many people will grow in their walks with Christ through the conference.

Back From Staff Training

We returned yesterday from our trip to Grand Marais, MN.  On the trip many of the staff hiked the Kadunce River, picked raspberries, played golf, jumped in Lake Superior, played games at night, and we all went out to eat dinner each night.  Five staff also shared devotions on our trip.  We talked about humility, being known by God, and truth translating from our head to our heart.  It is always good to hear about what God is doing in the lives of other staff.

The school year is starting up soon.  Northwestern started yesterday, Bethel starts on Tuesday, and the U of M starts the day after Labor Day.  Please continue praying that God would build up laborers on our campuses this school year.

Staff Training

From August 18-27 our staff will be having our staff training and fellowship time. This will be the first time our whole staff team has been together since May. On Tuesday each of the campus staff teams (U of M, Bethel, and Northwestern) will be getting together to pray, think, and plan for the upcoming school year. For the rest of the week, our staff will get some training in arcing (a method of studying the Bible).

On the 23rd, our staff team will head to Grand Marais, MN for staff fellowship. This is always a good time of fellowship for our team. We have devotions in the morning and evening led by different staff members. The days are spent hanging out together (going hiking, eating meals, playing sports, etc.). It is also a good time for us to rest up before the school year starts.

Link/Knight Engagement Party

This past weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate the approaching nuptials of Andrew Knight and Sara Link. Andrew has been on staff with CO Minneapolis for nearly 6 years, and he will be marrying Sara on April 4 in Atlanta. Sara has been a staff girl with CO Atlanta, and we’re excited to be inheriting her onto our team!
Because the wedding will be taking place so far away, it was nice to be able to celebrate with them here in MN. We pulled our money together and purchased for them the fireplace screen they registered for. We’re looking forward to seeing it in the Knight apartment in the months ahead!
(Thank you, Schroeders, for letting us invade your apartment for the evening!)
