the day after father's day

This week's theme is "Heaven, Homecoming for an Exile."Matt Reagan started this week with a session on spiritual depression and doubt. The rest of the day was fairly slow but relaxing. Many of the disciples took naps or swam in the pool. Paul Poteat and Zach Simmons led Praise and Worship this evening, after which Jon Saunders shared and answered questions with some of the other staff members. Don't forget to check out the <week's highlights video> uploaded last week. There are two new recordings, one from <Life Training> and the other from the <Parent's Social>, along with a slew of other new content. Parents Weekend

Yesterday many of the students worked from 2pm till 11pm. Therefore, students enjoyed their morning by getting in the word, going for a run, sharing their testimony with each other, or catching up on sleep. For instance, Gaby Linder from Northwestern College, who is doing Athletes In Training (AIT), describes her Fridays as "fabulous”. She is working at Bi-Lo and loving it. "The best part of working at Bi-Lo, is the interaction that I can have with costumers" she says. Furthermore, some students are happy for having their parents or friends down visiting for the weekend. This morning, parents, friends, some of the students and staff had breakfast along with a sharing time. Mrs. Lorence and Sarah Evans were the ones who had the opportunity to share what God has been doing in their lives. Moreover, Andrew Knight had the opportunity to present what CO is all about, and what is the mission of this College Ministry to those who were not so familiar with Campus Outreach.

The Theme of this week's Social was Southern Country. Dressed as hicks and preps, the disciples sang along as Paul Poteat led them in a string of country and not-so-country songs.True to the theme, the Project Dinner for Thursday was a Low Country Boil. The smorgasbord consisted of boiled sausage, corn, shrimp, onions, and potatoes prepared by the staff and the A-team. The night was spent eating food from the table with their hands and dancing to some tunes. Once again, <the gallery> has been updated with pictures from this week. The Mugshots album is almost complete as well.

Leaders Training - Your Life is Your Pulpit

Every Wednesday morning the leaders on beach project meet for leaders training.  This summer Charlie Brooks has been teaching about how It's not about you (you can't save anyone or make anyone grow), but it includes you (God uses people to advance the gospel in others' hearts).  This week's talk was on how your life is your best pulpit - people are going to learn and grow the most from your life rather than what you teach them with your words. The Why

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting our blog once again. Yesterday, as usual, students had the morning off while others had the privilege to work. Many of them took the advantage to rest and read. They also had the opportunity to spend some time meditating on the powerful talk Matt Reagan gave on Tuesday. We would encourage you to download it as well.

Later everyone got ready for evangelism training where Colby Williamson shared with us on “Why Share the Gospel.” Students were truly encouraged and challenged to realize that we do not share the Gospel as a kind of duty, or a certain type of debt that we owe to God. Rather, we evangelize in the light of valuing God. We share the Gospel because it is the most valuable message that a person can give and experience.

As for tonight, project is having social time where students are going to be able to experience a truly southern treat.

Theme Night - Gospel for Exiles

Matt Reagan shared with us on Monday night about the gospel of grace.  The gospel is a celebration, but we are unwilling to celebrate (Isaiah 30:15) because of our deceitful hearts.  We want to work for our salvation, but Jesus says in John 6:29 "this is the work of God, that you believe in the One He has sent" [display_podcast]

Theme Training this week was organized by Jack Thompson's team. After a great video and amazing testimony, Matt Reagan spoke on "Grace: an Exile's Gospel." Theme Night

Today is a work day for many of the students. However, everyone is excited for tonight's Theme Night. Matt Reagan is going to be sharing  about “Grace: An Exile's Gospel.” Pray that God continues  his work and that He might open our eyes to see the beauty of the Gospel. In other areas, last night we were hit by a storm that kept some students awake for a few hours into the night. “It was like a gentle hurricane” said Martha Joy, one of the Team Leaders. The sound of thunder was so loud that it made people jump from their beds. It was a terrifying but glorious experience at the same time. Yesterday during our project meal, students gathered in small groups and prayed for each other's families. It was a wonderful time to share about the good and bad news in our lives.

Praying Time

Day of Worship

Today, Sunday, the project attended Church as usual. Moreover, this morning we had our third Life Training Seminar. Matt Reagan  taught about being free by God and enjoying the great things that He has made for our pleasure. After Matt shared what God gave him to speak, we were challenged by Andrew Knight to meditate and ask each other what things in our lives stop us from enjoying God freely, and the things that are in our power that we are abusing by our freedom.

Chilling-Work

Yesterday, Friday, for most of the students the morning was open. Many of them took the advantage of having one on one conversations. “It was a sweet and refreshing time” says Shawn Vradenburg ( U of M student) one of the Room Leaders. Others like those who are involved in soccer were able to play with students from CO Charlotte, NC. “It is neat to make other connections with other CO Students outside of our project” David Langley says. However, for those students who are working at Wal-Mart and other locations it was an afternoon of work. All of them  are thankful to God for being able to have a job. Furthermore, a few students spent time at the beach watching the lightning and being amazed at God's creation. Today Saturday morning was D-Group time, and it was a beneficial time for sharing what God has been teaching us through out this past week. 60s BBP
