We just wrapped up Engage’s biggest night of the year–Wing night! About 1600 chicken wings were prepared…which was almost 200 lbs of chicken! Through wing night, we were able to share the love of Jesus with University students by loving on them through fellowship and free food. We had hundreds of students over to the Engage Grace House tonight, and it was such a blessing to have students from the dorms who have never been to Grace House. Many of them just saw the “Free Chicken Wings” written in sidewalk chalk outside the house, and walked in for free food. Through this, some of them asked things along the lines of “so what is this place?” or “what kind of organization is this?” And we got to tell them about Engage! We got to tell them that the reason why we host events, and often give away free food, is because we have been given a gift that is of surpassing worth compared to any other. That is the gospel! And because we have been given this wonderful gift, we can't help but share this overflowing love for Jesus Christ, with University students!
Georgia Verdon is one of our LEAD staff from Australia. Tonight Georgia beautifully shared her testimony for this multitude of university students. Georgia has an upbringing that is quite similar to the average Kiwi. Like many Kiwi’s, Georgia’s family was agnostic. When Georgia came to University in Brisbane, Australia, she got caught up in a worldly lifestyle, and was often questioning what the meaning of life was. She was becoming curious about who God is, and whether or not there is a creator. She became involved in Campus Outreach at her University, and not long after became a Christian. Since then, Georgia’s mom and sister also have become Christian. Praise the Lord!
We have no boast in this, our boast is in Christ!
Prayer requests!
1. Wisdom as we are starting more frequently studying the Bible with students, some of who are agnostic or atheist.
2. Please pray that the Lord would use Engage as a vessel to save lost students on the University campus.
3. Health–3 of the CCP team members are currently sick, so please pray for a speedy recovery!
