Day of Worship
Today, Sunday, the project attended Church as usual. Moreover, this morning we had our third Life Training Seminar. Matt Reagan taught about being free by God and enjoying the great things that He has made for our pleasure. After Matt shared what God gave him to speak, we were challenged by Andrew Knight to meditate and ask each other what things in our lives stop us from enjoying God freely, and the things that are in our power that we are abusing by our freedom.

Chilling-Work
Yesterday, Friday, for most of the students the morning was open. Many of them took the advantage of having one on one conversations. “It was a sweet and refreshing time” says Shawn Vradenburg ( U of M student) one of the Room Leaders. Others like those who are involved in soccer were able to play with students from CO Charlotte, NC. “It is neat to make other connections with other CO Students outside of our project” David Langley says. However, for those students who are working at Wal-Mart and other locations it was an afternoon of work. All of them are thankful to God for being able to have a job. Furthermore, a few students spent time at the beach watching the lightning and being amazed at God's creation. Today Saturday morning was D-Group time, and it was a beneficial time for sharing what God has been teaching us through out this past week.

fresh stuff from this week
Project is now complete after the arrival of Alan Hoglund. He arrived Wednesday night after a long flight from Europe.Project Dinner was promptly followed by Campus Time. Disciples got to exclusively spend time with individuals in their respective campuses after breaking up into smaller groups. During this time, they shared their reason for coming to Summer Beach Project and prayed for each other.
Bowling in style, or in the style of your parents, or even as old as your parents seemed to be the theme of Social Time Decade Bowling. Disciples dressed up in the various fashions from the 60's to the future and went bowling at Surfside Bowling.

Social and Campus Night
As you already know, yesterday we had our second Evangelism Training with Paul Poteat . His talk was on “Being a Christian.” He focused on how we are only able to grow through daily repentance. It is crucial for us, as believers, to understand that we need the Gospel just as much as the non-believers (Romans 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).After going in different directions, the teams gathered again to share their experiences and prayed for those people who heard the Gospel. Later on, two teams had the privilege to have supper at Pine Drive Gospel Church. Most of the students agreed that the food was super “yummy.” The Fellowship was great.
Therefore, we would appreciate if you can have in your prayers the members of P.D.G. Church. Moreover, for tonight students are excited to have supper as a project and have Campus time.

the "e" in wednesday stands for evangelism
It rained overnight but this morning is looking to be nice and sunny. Paul Poteat will once again instruct the disciples in Evangelism Training. Later this evening, there are a few group dates planned as well, so it is presumable to understand that today will hold much entertainment. Ken Currie and his wife Teresa concluded their session on maintaining Christ honoring relationships last night. They focused on the need of a healthy relationship with God and submission to one another in any marriage (Ephesians 5). The recording from the night are in the works for those who are interested.

Life Training - Holding Loosely to Money
On Sunday, Matt Reagan talked about holding loosely to money during life training. Here is the audio recording from that talk. [display_podcast]
Good day and blessings to y'all!
Monday was a challenging day. The day started with the entire staff and the few students without jobs going to look for one. The staff and around 14 other students prayed before making their way into town. After going around Garden City, we got the news that a couple of students were able to get jobs, which we Praise God for it.Since the theme of this week is “Relationships,” Ken Currie and his wife Teresa had the opportunity to share their story. Later on, our brother Ken talked about “True Love” and what it meant to pursue a relationship under God's sovereign plan. Moreover, tonight Ken is going to share the second part of his talk about “True Love.” At the end of this talk, students are going to be able to interact with Ken and Teresa through a “Question and Answer” platform. Therefore, keep praying for those students who have not been able to find a job yet, and please pray for Ken and Teresa as they share of what God's has putting on their hearts for tonight.
week two
After a restful weekend, we are entering our second week of project, but here's a little bit of what went on this Sunday: During Life Training, Matt Reagan talked on "Holding Loosley to Money" and being free of the love of materials; and later in the evening, Rev Landers shared from 2 Peter 1 and answered questions that the disciples had, while some others went and worshipped God together. The rest of the time was spent in rest and fellowship. Today, most of the disciples have driven off to their respective jobs, or are vigilantly searching for other job options with the staff. After work, everyone will have dinner together and then head to Garden City Baptist (GCB) for Bible Study Training and Team Time.

If you haven't seen the new video, it can be found in the previous post.
We are back in Action!
This first week made students feel at home. Through the different activities, seminars and small groups, we have been able to build strong friendships. Moreover, this morning at our Life Training Seminar, Matt Reagan talked about how we as Christians should embrace the idea of receiving and giving money. Later in the morning, the students enjoyed once again fellowship at different Churches around Garden City. For the rest of day, students have the afternoon to rest. However, as a project we are planning to meet at 7:30 pm to Praise and Worship together. [vimeo http://vimeo.com/5095362]

D-Group
Today, Saturday, most of the students are getting together for their first official D-Group. We have been given a book named “Brown Like Coffee” to go through as a group. However, many others were scheduled to work this morning. This is why a few had to get together last night, or are getting together tonight. Furthermore, God has blessed us with a few other jobs, yet there are a few who still are looking for one. We would truly appreciate it if you pray that as a project we can trust God and rest in his sovereignty. In other matters, students have been enjoying the fellowship and getting to know each other through out the week. As a project, we have the task to memorize Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”.
Bigger, Better
For our Project Social this week, we played a game of "Bigger and Better," the gist of it was to find something bigger and better than the other teams through a series of trades and bringing it back home to show off crazy items and funny stories. Some people came back with sofas, gum-ball machines, a colorful pair of bikes, and even jobs. Random treasures are not the only things that are becoming "bigger and better." We are all growing in community daily as we share in the word, eat, and live together. We also had our first Campus Time this week. Each group prayed for their campuses and God's plans for us in the coming semester. On a lighter note, three group dates are already underway with others anticipated for the coming weeks.

The group picture was taken yesterday, hopefully this means that it will be up in the gallery relatively soon. Other pictures from this week have also been uploaded to the gallery, <check them out here>.
Evangelism Day
Yesterday, after our first Evangelism training by Paul Poteat, the students and staff went over the beach to share Christ to the people. Paul challenged us to over come our fear of failure and put our trust in God, and the message of the Gospel. For some of the students this experience was new and challenging. Many students were rejected by the people; however, everybody was able to ask at least one person about Christ. Later on, we got together as teams and share our different experiences of how it went. Moreover, some of the students were able to establish a relationship with these people. We want to encourage you to keep in your prayers not only the students, but also keep in your prayers these people that were told about Christ. For today, students are looking forward to have a group picture. Have a bless day y'all!
Theme Night - Exiled
Our first theme talk from Andrew Knight was last Thursday night. He talked about we are separated from relationship with God because of our sin. Jesus who died for our sins is our substitute, so that we are called righteous by God. This is not based on anything that we do (our works), but solely on the work of Jesus Christ. You can listen to the talk here. We will be podcasting more talks from beach project as the summer goes on. Expect more in the coming weeks. [display_podcast]
Praise and thanks to God. We made it safe!
There were not many complications on our way to Garden City. On Thursday night, we started out with our first seminar. Andrew Knight talked and introduced us to the theme of this Summer Project 2009, “Exiles”. Friday and Saturday were the days to look for jobs. Most of the students by now have obtained jobs at various places of employment around Myrtle Beach. These include Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo, Chick-Fil-A, Piggly Wiggly, Cracker Barrel, and McDonald's. However, they are a few students who still are looking for a job. Therefore, please keep these students in your prayers. Moreover, yesterday the group was divided in three to attend church. It was and it will be a blessing to join these different congregations at Garden City. God has been blessing us with a wonderful weather, and the fellowship through reading the word at breakfast, lunch or free time has been a marvelous time. We are excited to start a new week here at Project.
