Yesterday disciples enjoyed their last campus time. It was a neat time to share how and on what areas God has been working throughout SBP. As for today, in a few hours project is gonna be having one of the last meetings from 10 to 12 pm, "Return Training." Keep praying for these last meetings and last hours of project. Pray that disciples will have the energy to finish strong.

FREE DAY

Since yesterday was the last day of work, many disciples jumped into the pool last night with their job uniforms on as a SBP tradition. Today is a free day and disciples are heading different directions. A good amount of disciples are visiting Charleston, others are going to be visiting North Myrtle, and some are just going to stay around project and enjoy the day.

Big Arrival

Last night the U of M students gathered at the beach to pray for their campus, after enjoying some goodies made by the girls."It was Amazing" says Charlie Schumacher. As for today, Staff should be arriving project around 5:00 pm, which makes the  disciples excited. Furthermore, the project social is gonig to be having special visitors. We are expecting a great number of co-workers from the different places that disciples have been working throughout this summer. This social meal will be followed with a  Gospel presentation led by Justin Richardson. So, we would appreciated if you pray for tonight's activities.

This is a short clip from Theme Night.

seven days fom tuesday is tuesday

During Bible Study Training, Josh Schrock focused on Meditation. He shared on its significance in the Christian walk, that as needy people, Christians need to constantly meditate on Scripture and internalize its truths in order to grow. There was Team Time after that. Most of the teams got their team shirts today and many disciples wore them last night before curfew.

Mike Polley will be leading the final Theme Training today. He will be sharing on "Suffering: Living in Exile."

Wednesday night, project had guys and girl's time once again. Disciples really enjoyed their time. Girls and guys met at their respective meeting locations and spent time asking questions to a pnel formed by team leaders. As for Thursday, after a long day of work it was show time. Guys had to perform a synchronized swimming routine for the ladies in order to win a group date for the night. However, because of a storm the show had to be stopped, nevertheless, every guy's room was paired up with a girl's room for the night.

Disciples are starting to work on cleaning. They have been given a list with the different tasks that need to be done before everyone leaves project.

Matthew 28:18-20

Last night Mike Polley's talk moved students to think about prayer. "It was good to remember that, we love to pray, but it is hard to because of our sinfulness," Kerri Kolton says. Furthermore, after theme night, disciples made their way to the beach where they prayed for the lost, for relatives and for project in general. It was a sweet way to finish the day.As for today is evangelism training, James Gisler has the microphone once again. Please pray that God can use him and work through him to impact the lives of the students.

Pellegrino

Last night, as you already know, Jack Thompson led bible training. His talk was about the "application" of Scripture, and the importance of it. It was an edifying time for all the disciples to remember that if one wants to be transformed by the Gospel, it is essential to believe it. Supper and team time was moved to Okey's church (Pine Drive Gospel) due to rain and some difficulties with getting the project meal on time.

As for today, Mike Polley is in charge of theme night once again. He will be sharing about "Prayer," the power of an exile. Once again, we would appreciate if you can keep Mike Polley and the disciples in your prayers as they study the Word.

vanilla sunday

As is true of today, the weekend at project is usually slow. Many of the disciples go on group dates or take naps, grinding activity at project to a near halt, which is fine for most who are drained from a busy week. After Life Training with Reid Jilek and services at their respective churches, disciples still have the time to pray for the world. So far, more than half the world has been pinned for prayer, as disciples fill a world map with tacks as they pray for each country. As pins fill up the world map, God's presence over the whole earth is awe-inspiring.

During last nights social, disciples had a lot of fun exchanging gifts, making gingerbread houses, and watching Elf. Each room dressed up creatively as angels, reindeer, shepherds, jingle bells, elves, and even a manger. They also had the chance to sit and take photos with Santa and Ms Claus, Mike Polley and Emilie Toll respectively. <The gallery> which has lost some momentum the past couple weeks will be going through a major update sometime today, look forward to pictures from the past socials and more.

Tonight, Theme Night

Last Night Josh Schrock had the opportunity to lead Bible Training. His topic was Bible Interpretation. Josh shared with us that it is easy to wrongly interpret the Bible when one does not focus on Christ. "We need to confess our sinfulness, and then repent from it." "Look at the context and let's interpret the Bible with the Bible."After Bible Training, it was team time. These times are for the students to have fellowship after a long day of work. Most of the time, teams either play games, share some goodies or just chill and hang-out. Tonight is Theme Night. Mike Polley will be talking about "Discipleship: God's pursuit for exiles." Therefore, we would appreciate if you pray for Mike and the students. -We would encourage you to watch the testimonies. If they do not appear on the window please click on "Older Entries" so you will be able to see the videos from the past weeks-

Monday at the Beach

Disciples are going back into their routine week after the brief time with the CCP team. The pool, muddied by a type of fungus then doused with extreme amounts of cleaning chemicals, making it unsuitable for use over the last couple days, also looks ready for some action. This week's theme will be centered on discipleship. Make sure to check out some the kids at their jobs as well as clips from the CCP hosted scavanger hunt from last week in <this week's Highlights video> Pictures from the Social plus others will be uploaded soon so make sure to check and see when the gallery is updated sometime this week!

salsa puts the "spice" in thruspiceday

Disciples ate guacamole and danced salsa during yesterday's social. After dinner, Natin Moreno led the project in a quick salsa lesson. Everyone in project enjoyed their taste of Hispanic culture as they ate guacamole, danced, and cheered as they broke colorful piñatas open. Campus Time was led for the first time without the CO staff who left at various times on Thursday. Many of the campuses spent their time by breaking up into groups and praying, sharing testimonies, and contacting friends outside of project, or praying one-on-one on behalf of the other person.

This week's encouragement verse is from Romans 8:18-19.

The Theme of this week's Social was Southern Country. Dressed as hicks and preps, the disciples sang along as Paul Poteat led them in a string of country and not-so-country songs.True to the theme, the Project Dinner for Thursday was a Low Country Boil. The smorgasbord consisted of boiled sausage, corn, shrimp, onions, and potatoes prepared by the staff and the A-team. The night was spent eating food from the table with their hands and dancing to some tunes. Once again, <the gallery> has been updated with pictures from this week. The Mugshots album is almost complete as well.

Theme Night

Today is a work day for many of the students. However, everyone is excited for tonight's Theme Night. Matt Reagan is going to be sharing  about “Grace: An Exile's Gospel.” Pray that God continues  his work and that He might open our eyes to see the beauty of the Gospel. In other areas, last night we were hit by a storm that kept some students awake for a few hours into the night. “It was like a gentle hurricane” said Martha Joy, one of the Team Leaders. The sound of thunder was so loud that it made people jump from their beds. It was a terrifying but glorious experience at the same time. Yesterday during our project meal, students gathered in small groups and prayed for each other's families. It was a wonderful time to share about the good and bad news in our lives.

Praying Time

fresh stuff from this week

Project is now complete after the arrival of Alan Hoglund. He arrived Wednesday night after a long flight from Europe.Project Dinner was promptly followed by Campus Time. Disciples got to exclusively spend time with individuals in their respective campuses after breaking up into smaller groups. During this time, they shared their reason for coming to Summer Beach Project and prayed for each other. Bowling in style, or in the style of your parents, or even as old as your parents seemed to be the theme of Social Time Decade Bowling. Disciples dressed up in the various fashions from the 60's to the future and went bowling at Surfside Bowling. dsc_0941 The gallery has finally been updated! Social and Campus Night

As you already know, yesterday we had our second Evangelism Training with Paul Poteat . His talk was on “Being a Christian.” He focused on how we are only able to grow through daily repentance. It is crucial for us, as believers, to understand that we need the Gospel just as much as the non-believers (Romans 1:15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).After going in different directions, the teams gathered again to share their experiences and prayed for those people who heard the Gospel. Later on, two teams had the privilege to have supper at Pine Drive Gospel Church. Most of the students agreed that the food was super “yummy.” The Fellowship was great. Therefore, we would appreciate if you can have in your prayers the members of P.D.G. Church. Moreover, for tonight students are excited to have supper as a project and have Campus time. Gathering

D-Group

Today, Saturday, most of the students are getting together for their first official D-Group. We have been given a book named “Brown Like Coffee” to go through as a group. However, many others were scheduled to work this morning. This is why a few had to get together last night, or are getting together tonight. Furthermore, God has blessed us with a few other jobs, yet there are a few who still are looking for one. We would truly appreciate it if you pray that as a project we can trust God and rest in his sovereignty. In other matters, students have been enjoying the fellowship and getting to know each other through out the week. As a project, we have the task to memorize Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”. One on One

Bigger, Better

For our Project Social this week, we played a game of "Bigger and Better," the gist of it was to find something bigger and better than the other teams through a series of trades and bringing it back home to show off crazy items and funny stories. Some people came back with sofas, gum-ball machines, a colorful pair of bikes, and even jobs. Random treasures are not the only things that are becoming "bigger and better." We are all growing in community daily as we share in the word, eat, and live together. We also had our first Campus Time this week. Each group prayed for their campuses and God's plans for us in the coming semester. On a lighter note, three group dates are already underway with others anticipated for the coming weeks.

The group picture was taken yesterday, hopefully this means that it will be up in the gallery relatively soon. Other pictures from this week have also been uploaded to the gallery, <check them out here>.

Evangelism Day

Yesterday, after our first Evangelism training by Paul Poteat, the students and staff went over the beach to share Christ to the people. Paul challenged us to over come our fear of failure and put our trust in God, and the message of the Gospel. For some of the students this experience was new and challenging. Many students were rejected by the people; however, everybody was able to ask at least one person about Christ. Later on, we got together as teams and share our different experiences of how it went. Moreover, some of the students were able to establish a relationship with these people. We want to encourage you to keep in your prayers not only the students, but also keep in your prayers these people that were told about Christ. For today, students are looking forward to have a group picture. Have a bless day y'all! sharing after evangelizing on the beach

Praise and thanks to God. We made it safe!

at the projectThere were not many complications on our way to Garden City. On Thursday night, we started out with our first seminar. Andrew Knight talked and introduced us to the theme of this Summer Project 2009, “Exiles”. Friday and Saturday were the days to look for jobs. Most of the students by now have obtained jobs at various places of employment around Myrtle Beach. These include Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo, Chick-Fil-A, Piggly Wiggly, Cracker Barrel, and McDonald's. However, they are a few students who still are looking for a job. Therefore, please keep these students in your prayers. Moreover, yesterday the group was divided in three to attend church. It was and it will be a blessing to join these different congregations at Garden City. God has been blessing us with a wonderful weather, and the fellowship through reading the word at breakfast, lunch or free time has been a marvelous time. We are excited to start a new week here at Project.
